From Times Staff and Wire Reports

U.S. Secret Service agents have uncovered a fraud ring that allegedly was funneling sensitive credit information out of TRW Credit Data Division, one of the nation’s largest credit bureaus, authorities said Friday. Several sealed indictments have been obtained, according to the Secret Service, which is investigating the matter, but it was not revealed how soon the indictments will be made public. The ring reportedly involved a TRW employee who leaked credit information to outsiders. They, in turn, used the information to fraudulently obtain merchandise and for other illegal purposes. While both Secret Service and TRW officials confirmed an investigation was under way, they said they could not give any more details until the indictments are unsealed.
