Case of Missing Equipment Closed; Youths to Do Community Service
About 70% of the $15,000 worth of equipment stolen from a Padre storage area has been recovered, the San Diego Police department detective who investigated the case said Friday.
Detective Dennis Sadler said the equipment, including 184 bats and some minor league uniform tops, were taken by seven youths ranging in age from 14 to 18. A source close to the investigation said most of them were students at Torrey Pines High School.
Sadler said the case is closed and that the youths will make restitution for what has not been recovered by doing community service work.
“I’ve talked with the majority of the parents and their attorneys, and they’re very happy with the outcome,” Sadler said.
