Three Los Angeles police officers shot and seriously wounded a 20-year-old man who fired on them as he attempted to evade arrest in Studio City early Sunday morning, police said.

Howard Chapnick was shot several times in the upper torso. He was listed in serious but stable condition at the Medical Center of North Hollywood, said Officer Mike Schwehr.

None of the officers were injured in the shooting.

Acting on a tip, police went to Jerry’s Famous Deli, 12655 Ventura Blvd., at 1:20 a.m. expecting to find Chapnick, a burglary suspect. A felony warrant had been issued for the man, police said.
