Beefed Over Beef: k.d. lang’s songs have been banned from a Lexington, Neb., radio station because of her anti-beef bias. “Under no circumstances will anyone on this staff be allowed to play any music by k.d. lang until such time as she publicly renounces her ties with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and her fanatic anti-meat philosophy,” station KRVN said in a statement. lang, a 1990 Grammy winner, will appear in TV commercials for a PETA-sponsored campaign called Meat Stinks. “If you knew how meat was made, you’d probably lose your lunch,” lang, a vegetarian since 1981, says in the commercials. “I know--I’m from cattle country. That’s why I became a vegetarian. Meat stinks and not just for animals but for human health and the environment.”
