ORANGE : Workshop to Offer Development Details

A public workshop on the first phase of the East Orange General Plan will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the El Modena Branch Library.

The workshop will introduce residents to details of the “West Bowl,” the first of several phases of development planned for East Orange over the next 15 to 20 years.

Representatives of the Irvine Co. and the city Planning Department will address questions on the boundaries, program and schedule for the 1,490-acre project.

The plans call for civic center and several business and commercial districts to be built east of Santiago Hills. Development is expected to begin in 1992.

The general plan for the East Orange development was approved by the City Council last December, establishes a framework for a 7,110-acre planned community in East Orange that is expected to increase the city’s population by nearly 40%. The Irvine Co. is the developer.
