ANAHEIM
The California Highway Patrol is trying to identify a pedestrian who remained in critical condition Wednesday after he was struck by a car as he attempted to cross the Riverside Freeway.
The man was rushed to the UCI Medical Center in Orange following the accident at about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.
CHP Officer Angel Johnson said the man was seen walking in the center divider west of Raymond Avenue in Anaheim before he stepped into the fast lane.
A 39-year-old Yorba Linda woman swerved but could not avoid striking the pedestrian, Johnson said.
Another vehicle then rear-ended the Yorba Linda motorist and sped off. Johnson said investigators are seeking information from the public on the hit-and-run driver.
The pedestrian suffered a broken pelvis and other head, chest and internal injuries.
