Calfed Buys Three Branches: The Los Angeles thrift will take over $75 million in deposits from the federal Resolution Trust Corp. that used to be in three California branches of Buffalo, N.Y.-based Empire Federal Savings. One Empire office in San Francisco will become a California Federal Bank branch. Deposits in the two other offices, in San Francisco and Pasadena, will be moved to nearby California Federal branches. No terms were disclosed. Empire, operating under government supervision, was put up for sale by the RTC this month.
