Profit Key took the lead at the start and maintained his advantage throughout Saturday to win the 73rd running of the $171,600 Grade II Dwyer Stakes for 3-year-olds at Belmont Park.
Rhythm, ridden by Craig Perret, raced wide through the stretch to finish second in the four-horse field, 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Graf. The winner, with Jose Santos aboard, carried the co-highweight of 123.
For Profit Key, a Kentucky bred son of Desert Wine-Sharm a Sheikh, the win was the second in a row and the fifth in seven starts this year. He covered 1 1/8 miles in 1:47 2/5 to earn $102,960 and return $3.20 and $2.10.
Rhythm, who had won two in a row, including Belmont's Colin Stakes in his last start, paid $2.10. There was no show betting.
