First post is 1:45 p.m. with the track’s gates opening at noon.

The summer quarter horse season continues through July 28 with night programs Tuesday through Saturday starting at 7:25 p.m. Sunday afternoon programs are scheduled July 8, 15 and 22.

Takin On The Cash is rated among the top 2-year-old performers in quarter horse racing after capturing the Bay Meadows Futurity this spring and then coming back to win the Kindergarten Futurity at Los Alamitos.

Trainer Caesar Dominguez’s horse has earned nearly $185,000 and finished no worse than second in each of his six starts this year. Takin On The Cash breaks from the No. 9 post in the Dash For Cash Futurity with regular rider Danny Cardoza at the helm.

His strongest opposition is expected to come from Jacks Special Gem and Four And Two.

Jacks Special Gem was certified as a race horse when Eddie Garcia guided the Special Effort colt to a second-place finish in the Kindergarten Futurity this summer. In trials for that stake, Garcia ran the top qualifying time for the Kindergarten.

Four And Two earned runner-up money in the Leo Handicap this summer before posting an impressive victory over Jacks Special Gem in the Bardella Handicap.
