For Bush, It’s a Matter of Trust

Share

As a very active member of the environmental community and a previously cautious supporter of President Bush, I have to say that President Bush just went from the environmental President to the mental President.

To appoint a blue-ribbon panel of scientists and then ignore their recommendations simply because they are politically difficult is a disservice to our nation. It is a disservice not just because of what it will mean for the spotted owl. It is a disservice because it means that the President is unwilling to take action based on intelligent study.

How can I possibly trust him to deal appropriately with other difficult issues like nuclear waste, the ozone hole and our country’s increasingly contaminated ground waters?
