From Times staff and Wire reports

About 300 Haitian demonstrators chanted and marched peacefully outside a Miami shopping center where police had violently broken up a demonstration two days earlier. “From South Africa to South Florida, apartheid must go!” protest leaders chanted through megaphones. The Rapid Transit Factory Outlet and its Cuban-born owner have been the target of a series of protests following the alleged beating of a Haitian customer June 29 in a dispute over a pair of pants. On Thursday, police officers carrying clubs and shields arrested 62 protesters who refused orders to disperse from in front of the store.
