For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserym e n on what to do in the garden this week: -- If you haven’t done so already, remove dead foliage from spring bulb plants.

-- Don’t neglect the shade garden. It can bloom just as well as the sunny flower bed. Plant impatiens, begonias, lobelia, fuchsias and hydrangeas.

-- Keep the weeds down in your vegetable garden by mulching heavily around plants.

-- Plant salvia for a splash of red in your summer garden.

-- If crabgrass is a problem in your lawn, treat it now with selective controls available from your nursery.
