Another Louvre Theft: Curators at the Louvre have disclosed that a thief has stolen a dozen necklaces, bracelets and earrings dating to the 2nd and 3rd centuries A.D., marking the second daring theft from the museum discovered in three days. The items were discovered missing Wednesday, the same day that a Renoir was cut from its frame at the Louvre and two other works were taken from two small museums. But the jewelry theft, discovered in an inventory check ordered after the Renoir theft, was removed long before Wednesday, officials said. They estimated the worth of the stolen jewelry at about $910 and said that, above all, it had historic value.
