The defending champion United States defeated Canada, 25-14, and Australia beat England, 24-7, today in the second round of the world series of lacrosse.

The Americans, who won the event in 1986 in Toronto, have a 2-0 record, while Australia and Canada are 1-1. It was England’s first game in the competition, while a North American Iroquois Indian team had a bye today.

Japan, in an effort to enter the competition officially in 1994, is playing a series of exhibition games at this year’s event.
