A man who helped escort comedian Sam Kinison home after a night of drinking was ordered to stand trial Monday on charges that he raped Kinison’s girlfriend at the entertainer’s house.

After a preliminary hearing, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Horowitz ordered Unway Carter, 22, to stand trial on various sexual assault counts, including three of rape and one of forced oral copulation.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Carter allegedly assaulted the woman after he decided to act as a bodyguard and escort Kinison home on June 21 following a night of drinking, Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael Fishman said.
