San Dimas : Second-Unit Housing Ban
Concerned with overcrowding and traffic congestion, the City Council adopted an ordinance Tuesday to prohibit construction of “second units” on single lots in all residential areas, including single- and multiple-family zones.
The new law defines a second unit as an attached or unattached residence up to 640 square feet.
According to the city’s General Plan and zoning code, single-family homes are encouraged to maintain a rural atmosphere.
