COSTA MESA : 6-Year-Old Boy Who Fell Into Pool Dies

A 6-year-old boy who was pulled unconscious from the bottom of a swimming pool in Costa Mesa has become the seventh child to die in pools and hot tubs in Orange County this year, officials said Wednesday.

Adam Christopher Harris of Los Angeles died at 2:15 p.m. Monday. He had been on a respirator since Sunday, when he was pulled from the pool in the 200 block of Virginia Place during a back-yard party, officials said.

Paramedics took Adam to College Hospital Costa Mesa, where he was placed on life support systems. He was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange but never regained consciousness, hospital officials said. Adam died in the intensive care unit there less than two months before his seventh birthday.
