Malibu : Pool Will Remain Open
The swimming pool at Malibu Park School will remain open this summer because of an agreement reached Monday by the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and Los Angeles County.
Under the seven-month agreement, approved 6 to 0 by the district Board of Education, the county agreed to provide lifeguards, recreation leaders and other pool personnel and a $1-million liability insurance policy. The district will continue to pay for maintenance.
School district budget cuts last month had threatened to close the pool and end the county recreation programs there.
