Animal Cruelty

I was shocked to see, in the preview of “Problem Child,” a 7-year-old darling yank a cat by the neck; then the next scene showed the pitiful creature limping across the grass with its front legs bandaged. There were gasps of outrage from me and other members of the “Dick Tracy” audience. Such horrendousness being masked as humor!

I am fearful and so saddened to think we are a society where respect for all life is becoming anachronistic, where harming an animal is treated as a fun and silly part of a story, and where the ominous implications of that are ignored or not understood.
