Singer Harry Belafonte, 63, was admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital Monday after experiencing chest pains in his hotel room but was released later in the day, a hospital administrator said today.

Doctors said the singer’s chest pains were not heart-related, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Belafonte underwent a cardiac catheterization in which the interior of the heart is photographed, spokeswoman Judy Twitchell said.

Belafonte was admitted for tests at 6 a.m. after being transferred from nearby Los Gatos Community Hospital where his condition was assessed by a cardiologist, said administrator Truman Gates.
