Arthur S. Norwalk; Retired Lockheed Planner

Arthur S. Norwalk, a longtime Lockheed Corp. employee and an avid ballroom dancer, has died in Burbank. He was 74.

A resident of Burbank, he died of cancer Wednesday, said his son, Tim Norwalk.

Born Nov. 13, 1915, in Minneapolis, Minn., Norwalk came to California with his parents in 1926. He graduated in 1933 from Fremont High School in Los Angeles and spent the next six years as a construction worker, building schools and houses with his father, Charles.

In 1939, Norwalk was hired at Lockheed in Burbank, where he made patterns for planes and planned for the production of airplane parts. He retired in 1978 and became active in the Lockheed Dance Club.

He is survived by his son, Tim Norwalk of Canyon Country; a granddaughter and a grandson. A funeral service was held Monday, and arrangements were made by Pierce Brothers Valhalla Mortuary in North Hollywood. Donations can be made in Norwalk’s name to the American Cancer Society.
