STATE : Earth First! Charges Refused

SAN FRANCISCO —
Prosecutors will not file charges against two Earth First! activists arrested in connection with a pipe bomb explosion that injured the environmentalists, a defense lawyer said today.
Douglas Horngrad, a lawyer for Darryl Cherney, said Alameda County Deputy Dist. Atty. Chris Carpenter told him in a telephone conversation that no charges would be filed against either Cherney or Judi Bari.
“I can’t speak for the prosecutors, but we view their action as confirmation of Judi and Darryl’s innocence.”
