AIR SPACE: For the first time in John Wayne Airport history, there is only a two- to four-week wait for small-plane tie-down spaces. . . . Local fliers say demand has declined because of John Wayne’s higher fees and increasing commercial flights, which delay private-plane takeoffs. . . . Michael Church, head of the airport’s pilot association, says difficulties are exaggerated but concedes that some fliers are beginning to go elsewhere. “We’re not as popular a place to park an airplane anymore.”
