Long Beach : Kellogg Elected Vice Mayor; Drummond Takes Office

Share

Jeffrey Kellogg was unanimously chosen vice mayor of the Long Beach City Council on Tuesday, when newly elected 3rd District Councilman Doug Drummond also took office.

Kellogg, a freshman council member elected in 1988 to represent the 8th District on the west side of the city, succeeds Wallace Edgerton as vice mayor. Council members privately said they favored Kellogg over more senior colleagues because they thought he would move the council meetings along in the mayor’s absence and would not use the largely ceremonial post as a forum to challenge the mayor.

Drummond, a retired police commander, was elected last month to succeed three-term council member Jan Hall, who did not seek reelection.
