Share

Sheriff’s deputies are seeking the public’s help in finding vandals who tipped over three cars in the Thousand Oaks area in June.

A 1987 Hyundai Excel was found June 17 turned on its side, causing $1,000 damage to the finish and body, said Lt. Kelli McIlvain of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

Two more cars were found turned on their sides June 19. One was a 1988 Hyundai Excel and the other was a 1982 Plymouth Champ. The estimated damage to the two cars was $4,000, McIlvain said.

“The speculation is that it’s a new kid prank and that it will catch on,” McIlvain said.

The Sheriff’s Department has no leads and is asking citizens to call if they have any information.

The Thousand Oaks Police Crime Stopper Program will pay up to $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and criminal complaint against the people responsible for the crimes. Those with information may call (805) 494-TALK or (805) 656-1500.
