The Pacific Chorale will travel to Estonia in the Soviet Union in June, 1991, for two weeks of concerts and a collaboration in a recording with the Scottish National Orchestra, under the direction by Neeme Jarvi, chorale officials announced Friday.

The trip, underwritten by Eesti Kontsert, the Estonian state concert organization, will begin on June 22, 1991 and end July 12.

The Pacific will join with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir for a recording of “Jonah’s Mission,” an oratorio by Estonian composer Rudolf Tobias. Jarvi will conduct the Scottish National Orchestra. The recording will be released on the Chandos label.

In addition to the recording and three performances of the oratorio in the capital city of Tallinn, the Pacific also will sing Verdi’s Requiem with the Estonian National Philharmonic Orchestra led by John Alexander, the Pacific’s artistic director.

Negotiations also are under way to present the Verdi Requiem in the capitals of Lithuania and Latvia, according to chorale officials. The trip will mark the fifth international tour by the 150-voice Pacific Chorale, officials said.
