Soviet hockey player Sergei Fedorov, who disappeared during the Goodwill Games, has surfaced in Detroit with a five-year contract to play for the Red Wings.
Fedorov, 20, a center with the Soviet national team, signed the contract Monday, Executive Vice President Jim Lites of the Red Wings said.
Fedorov has not applied for political asylum in the United States, opting for a temporary work permit instead, immigration officials said.
