A Canoga Park beauty school student won $1 million in the California Lottery’s Big Spin on Saturday.

Van Nghien, 23, who came to the United States four years ago from Vietnam, said she was too excited to speak after winning the top prize in that game. Her friend, Hahn Van Mai, also of Canoga Park, said the woman will visit her parents in Michigan and perhaps start a business with her winnings.

Van Nghien, who has an 18-month-old son, was chosen as a Big Spin contestant after her scratch-off ticket was picked in a drawing. After taxes, she will receive $40,000 annually for 20 years, lottery spokesman John Schade said.
