Trainer Angelo Dundee said he plans to concentrate on getting middleweight boxing champion Michael Nunn ready for his Oct. 18 title defense, but Nunn’s lawyer said the two may team up for more fights.

“This is going to be a kick for me,” Dundee said. “We’re going to have some fun with Michael Nunn, but it’s going to be no fun to fight him.”

Dundee, who has already trained 11 world champions, including Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard, signed to be Nunn’s trainer as Nunn prepares for a mandatory defense of his International Boxing Federation title against Donald Curry in Paris.

For now, Dundee’s contract to train Nunn is only for the Curry fight. Contract terms were not disclosed.

Nunn began looking for a new trainer after breaking away from Ten Goose boxing because of a contract dispute. Dan Goossen was been Nunn’s manager and Joe Goossen was his trainer.

“After we clear up everything with the Goossens, we’ll look at developing something longer with Angelo,” said Nunn’s Davenport-based attorney, Ron May. “I think we’re close to working something out.”
