Perez Says He’s Finished for Season
New York Yankee pitcher Pascual Perez, on the disabled list for more than three months with a shoulder problem, says he has thrown his last pitch of the season.
“Forget it, I’m finished,” Perez said Thursday, adding that he could have surgery as early as next week. “I’m tired of waiting and resting. I need surgery. I have no choice.”
Perez, 33, signed a three-year, $5.7-million contract with the Yankees last November as a free agent. He made his last appearance April 25, against the Seattle Mariners. Perez was 1-2 in three starts with a 1.29 earned-run average.
