SEC Post Nomination President Bush nominated Washington attorney Richard Y. Roberts to fill a vacancy on the Securities and Exchange Commission. Roberts, a former chief of staff to Sen. Richard Shelby (D-Ala.), would fill the seat of Joseph Grundfest, who left the five-member commission in January. The nomination is subject to confirmation by the Senate. No date for confirmation hearings was set. The SEC regulates stocks and bonds, the exchanges that trade in them and other financial markets such as mutual funds.
