VENTURA : 2 Men Sentenced to Treatment Center

Share

A Ventura County Superior Court judge sentenced two men Tuesday to a state-run drug treatment center after they were convicted of selling crack cocaine out of a rundown house in west Ventura.

Judge Charles R. McGrath sentenced Duchon Fields, 23, to five years and four months in the California Rehabilitation Center in Norco for two counts of selling crack cocaine, and Dexter Williams, 23, to six years at the center for one count of selling crack cocaine.

McGrath reserved sentencing on a third man convicted of running the crack house--Alonzo Haynes, 38--so Haynes can be screened for narcotics addiction. If a court-appointed psychiatrist finds that Haynes is addicted, he could be sent to the rehabilitation center, Deputy Dist. Atty. James Grunert said.

The three were arrested in a Feb. 26 raid on the house at 948 Olive St. by SWAT teams from the Ventura Police Department and the Sheriff’s Department.
