Scriptwriter in a Hotbed: While U.S. troops are moving into Saudi Arabia, one lucky scriptwriter might also be taking a desert vacation. In Thursday’s Variety, a company called HE International ran an ad looking for a scriptwriter “ready for a challenging overseas assignment.” The scriptwriter would make $50,000 working on projects in Saudi Arabia. Although a spokesperson from the Sacramento company that recruits for Saudi Arabia said the ad was placed before the action in the Middle East, the wartime activities have no effect on the scriptwriter search. “It’s business as usual, on our end and on theirs,” she said. . . . Some other spoils of war: A new ad for the film “Navy SEALS” says, “From today’s headlines: ‘Middle East Mission, Navy SEALS to the Rescue.’ ”
