Carolco Seeks Stock Buyback: Carolco Pictures Inc. is negotiating to buy back a large block of its common stock from Mario Kassar, company chairman, documents released at the Securities and Exchange Commission showed. Kassar directly and indirectly owns 18.5 million shares of Carolco common stock, representing 61% of Carolco’s 30.2 million common shares outstanding. Los Angeles-based Carolco said it would spend about $45 million in buying back the stock, which would mean about 4.5 million shares at current market prices. Carolco was the studio behind the “Rambo” movies.
