Wal-Mart Expansion: Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to build a regional distribution center in Porterville, Calif., to service the company’s expansion into Western markets. The nation’s third-largest retailer, which is just beginning to open stores in the West, hopes to complete the distribution center in the fall of 1991, reported Vice President Joe HaHrdin Jr. Construction will begin in September.
