A wreck involving two tractor-trailer rigs on Interstate 5 backed up rush-hour traffic for about 10 miles Wednesday morning, a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol said.
The trucks were northbound on I-5 near the Via de la Valle exit in Del Mar when they collided about 9:30 a.m., causing one to overturn and the other to jackknife across the highway, CHP Officer Jackie Sturges said.
Although there were no major injuries, it took more than four hours to clear the accident scene. Traffic at one point was backed up as far south as the junction of Interstates 5 and 805, Sturges said.
