Police were searching Thursday for a man who they say abused a 9-month-old boy and then beat and stabbed the boy’s mother during a domestic argument Wednesday night.
The boy, Jesse Buniger, was being treated Thursday at UC San Diego Medical Center for burns on his face, groin and buttocks after his mother’s live-in boyfriend allegedly scalded him with hot water, said Escondido police Detective Kevin Armentano.
The boy’s mother, 26-year-old Tami Buniger, was treated and released from a local hospital after being beaten and stabbed with a knife and fork, Armentano said.
Tami Buniger told police that her boyfriend, Martin Martinez, 25, scalded the boy while giving him a bath and then assaulted her in their home in the 500 block of West Mission Avenue, Armentano said.
