FALL BEAUTY REPORT : The Bright Stuff

After several seasons of neutrals--never kind to women over 25, anyway--color is returning to makeup palettes. Just as fashion designers have replaced the little black dress with the little bright dress, cosmetics companies have updated fall makeup with vivid reds, bold violets and elegant blues. “Pales had become so boring,” says makeup artist Johnny Hernandez, “but women should be careful. The new look is subtle--not tons of color, just one color dusted on. Personally, I’m not a fan of the new turquoise blues--they can look tacky--but deep reds, oranges, burgundies and the beautiful dark blues are a different story.” Here are four looks for fall.
