Toll Road Bills Held Up in Political Traffic

The bills, one of which would have allowed excess toll receipts from one South County toll road to be lent to another for construction, ran into heavy opposition from Northern California legislators last week. They were to be reconsidered on Monday, but lawmakers on both sides of the issue agreed to put the matter on hold and to call up the bills for a vote sometime before Aug. 31, when the Legislature adjourns.
