A man was convicted Wednesday of stabbing to death award-winning television music composer Doug Timm inside his Hollywood Hills home in July, 1989.

Juanito Purugganan, 29, was found guilty by a Superior Court jury of one count each of first-degree murder, robbery and burglary. Because prosecutors did not seek the death penalty in the case, Purugganan will be sentenced on Sept. 12 to life in prison without parole.

Timm won awards for themes of such television series as “Simon and Simon,” “Dolphin Cove” and “The New Dirty Dozen.”
