Simi Valley Mayor Greg Stratton and Thousand Oaks officials will hold a closed meeting next week to discuss details of Simi Valley’s proposed annexation of Jordan Ranch, where a 750-house subdivision is planned.

Stratton will meet with Thousand Oaks City Councilmen Lawrence E. Horner and Frank Schillo at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Thousand Oaks City Hall, said Mike Sedell, Simi Valley assistant city manager.

“All we intend to do is to share information,” said Sedell, who will also attend the meeting. “No decisions will be made.”

The environmental impact report on the proposed Jordan Ranch development is also due to be released Wednesday, said Emily Habib, an assistant county planner. In addition to a housing development, the project would include a tournament golf course.

In July, the Simi Valley City Council voted to petition county planners for a tentative ruling on whether annexing Jordan Ranch, owned by entertainer Bob Hope, is feasible. However, Stratton suggested that the city talk with Thousand Oaks officials to see if they might be interested in annexing the property. The mayor said Thousand Oaks would be better able to provide services to the housing development site, which is separated from Simi Valley by hills.

In addition to his Jordan Ranch property, Hope has asked the city of Simi Valley to annex 3,495 acres of his Runkle Ranch property northeast of the city.

The Local Agency Formation Commission will consider Simi Valley’s request for a preliminary ruling on the annexation proposals at its next meeting scheduled for Sept. 12.
