A firefighter and another man pleaded innocent Monday to charges that they possessed methamphetamine with intent to sell.

Shawn Silva, 29, who is on an administrative leave of absence from the Escondido Fire Department, and Michael Day, 32, also of Escondido, also are charged with possession of a machine gun.

The two men were arrested Aug. 16 after an undercover operation by San Diego and Escondido police, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Richard Lewis.

Lewis said officers found 29 weapons in Silva’s home, along with a list of narcotics agents.
