Developer John Akridge said he had lined up the estimated $100 million needed for a National League expansion franchise, giving the Washington area two groups prepared to bid for a new team.
Akridge told the District of Columbia Baseball Commission he had enough commitments from investors to meet the league’s $95-million expansion fee and other start-up costs.
