Three youths were arrested Wednesday after the car they were in crashed after a chase by police. Two men in the vehicle struck by the car were injured.
Police were called about 1 p.m. to investigate a report that a stolen car was in the 1000 block of 51st Street, San Diego Police Sgt. Jim Clear said.
He said officers briefly pursued the car before being ordered to quit because of the dangers of midday high-speed chase.
However, the car with the youths continued at high speed and and hit a vehicle at the intersection of College and University avenues, Clear said.
The names of the youths were withheld because of their ages.
Joseph Deconio, 57, and his father, Anthony Deconio, 87, were both taken to Alvarado Hospital. The son was treated and released, and the father was in stable condition, hospital spokeswoman Susan Stalions said.
