Murder Mystery: Four best-selling authors questioned by TV Guide couldn’t agree on who killed Laura Palmer in ABC’s “Twin Peaks.” When asked to pick the most likely villain, Andrew M. Greeley, author of “The Cardinal Virtues,” said the killer was Dr. Lawrence Jacoby. Jackie Collins concluded the killer was Sheriff Truman’s deputy, Andy, “because he appears to be the least likely.” Tony Hillerman, author of “Coyote Waits,” said the killer will turn out to be Leland Palmer, the victim’s father. Iris Ranier Dart, who wrote “Beaches,” said Laura was the killer and not the victim; the victim is really Madeleine, Laura’s cousin. The series’ fall premiere is scheduled for Sept. 30.
