American Telephone & Telegraph Co. said today that it has signed a $45-million contract to provide long-distance services to more than 62,800 rooms and public pay telephones for the nationwide Motel 6 chain.
“We wanted Motel 6 guests to enjoy the convenience, value and quality of AT&T; long-distance services,” said Joseph McCarthy, president of the Dallas-based motel chain.
AT&T; said the three-year contract, which extends a previous agreement with the motel chain, was valued at about $45 million.
The giant telecommunications company said it already provides long-distance services for public access to 13 of the 15 largest hotel and motel chains in the United States.
