Claremont McKenna Wins Vision Award

Claremont McKenna College has won the 1990 Vision award and $40,000 from Minnesota-based 3M Co. for innovative academic programming.
The college won by submitting a proposal to establish an interdisciplinary major called Technology and Management that will blend economics, science and leadership studies. School officials say they will use the money to map out courses and draw up a comprehensive plan.
The award is given annually to six colleges across the county that encourage students and teachers in interdisciplinary projects, especially those outside traditional academia, said Donald Larson of the 3M Foundation.
