COUNTYWIDE : 2 Suspected Rapists Jailed; 3rd Sought

Two men, one from Fillmore and the other from Simi Valley, have been arrested in connection with three separate Ventura County rapes Friday and Saturday. Police are searching for a third man in Oxnard.

Eulatio Felix, 28, of Fillmore is being held in Ventura County Jail on a charge of forcible rape. Bail has been set at $10,000, a jail official said.

A former girlfriend of Felix told police that the suspect, armed with a handgun, raped her Friday morning in her Fillmore residence, said Lt. Joe Funchess of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies arrested Felix at his Moorpark workplace about 8:30 p.m. and seized a handgun, he said.

Richard Applegarth, 25, of Simi Valley is being held at the east valley sheriff’s station on suspicion of forcible rape, sodomy and oral copulation. Bail has been set at $20,000, Deputy Mario Luna said.

Police arrested Applegarth in a Simi Valley residence where a 22-year-old acquaintance reported she had been raped early Saturday morning, said Sgt. Larry Twichell of the Simi Valley Police Department.

Police are searching for a man in his 20s who reportedly threatened to kill a 19-year-old woman with a knife and then raped her in south Oxnard about 2:30 a.m. Friday, said Sgt. Frank Devorick of the Oxnard Police Department.
