Woman Killed by Helicopter Identified

A 21-year-old Torrance woman who was killed when she walked into the moving tail blades of a helicopter was identified by authorities Sunday as Macy Rahgozar.

Rahgozar had just returned from a helicopter ride with her boyfriend and another friend at Long Beach Airport at 6:41 p.m. Saturday when she apparently stepped out of the helicopter and walked behind it into its blades, according to police and fire officials.

The woman was flown to Long Beach Memorial Hospital by a private emergency-airlift helicopter that happened to be refueling near the scene, and she was pronounced dead there a short time later of massive head injuries, officials said. Security and private aviation officials at Long Beach Airport would not comment.
