Council Delays Vote on City Growth Plan
A vote on a new growth-management plan for San Diego was postponed Monday by the City Council to Oct. 1.
The delay will allow completion of an environmental impact report analyzing the controversial plan, which includes increasing fees on new housing to pay for public improvements. The final report is scheduled to be released later this week.
The plan and the environmental study will be referred to the planning commission, which is scheduled to vote on the matter Sept. 27.
Some council members want the city to approve a more stringent growth-mangement plan than one placed by initiative on the November ballot by a group backed by business and developers.
